Unlike traditional hypnotherapy, RTT™ does not rely solely on positive reinforcement. RTT™ goes beyond this and focuses on identifying how, where and when unhelpful beliefs and behaviours were formed. What should I expect during RTT™?

During your session I will help you reach a deeply relaxed state, allowing you to focus on the past events that are affecting you today. I will work with you to uncover the meaning and interpretation you created at the time of those events, and the beliefs you formed as a result. I will then help you reframe how you look at those past events from your adult perspective today.

Once that has been achieved, I will help you create powerful, positive, new beliefs. These new beliefs will be reinforced with the aid of a personalised recording that I will create for you to listen to once a day for 21 days. The personalised recording will help you firmly establish those positive new beliefs so that you can live the life you deserve.

People who have heard of RTT™ but have not experienced it for themselves may think it’s like neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). It’s true that both NLP and RTT™ can teach you how to better dialogue with your mind and understand the difference between what your subconscious and conscious minds believe. However, RTT™ has added the crucial step of directly accessing the root cause of the client’s presenting issue. Negative thoughts and behaviours are then reframed, and blocks are removed. Only at that stage is positive reinforcement introduced and a new, positive form of inner dialogue created. This is how RTT™ can achieve results not obtained through other therapies.

What is the difference between Hypnotherapy and RTT™?

Hypnotherapy is carried out under hypnosis, and it can cover a wide range of practices.

Through hypnosis, the therapist gains access to the subconscious mind and then, using suggestion and convincers, the therapist aims to make long-lasting change. Typically, this can take between 6-10 sessions.

RTT™ is different from standard hypnotherapy because it uses hypnosis to find the root cause of the client’s issue. Once a client understands how and when negative beliefs and behaviours were formed, they feel empowered to make real changes. This awareness and knowledge mean that change can happen more quickly than with standard hypnotherapy, as the client does not need convincing that change is possible – they know it. It’s the ultimate empowering experience.

How long does RTT™ take to work?

Every person and situation is unique, but generally, clients should only need between 1 and 3 sessions per issue. Each session lasts between 90 minutes and 120 minutes (sometimes longer).

Following your RTT session you will receive a Transformational Recording that must be listened to once a day for at least 21 days.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind, much like daydreaming. My clients are often surprised that they can hear everything that is being said and can move or speak during hypnosis without being directed. Everyone’s experience of hypnosis is different and how an individual feels will quite often vary each time they go into hypnosis, particularly as they become more comfortable and familiar with the process. Some of my clients describe hearing every word I say, while others find their mind wanders a little; many of my clients lose track of time when they are in hypnosis.

How aware or unaware you are during the process is unimportant and does not affect the efficacy of the hypnotherapy. Relaxation isn’t essential to hypnosis, however, most of my clients describe themselves as feeling very relaxed during and after the session, and the experience as being far more enjoyable than they expected. Many of my clients will learn to self-hypnotise as part of their ongoing mental health journey.

Do I lose control when under hypnosis?

No. Hypnosis is a streamlined state of focused attention, like when you are absorbed in a book, film, sport, or craft. You can emerge from hypnosis at any time if you wish. Think of me as an experienced guide, taking you on a journey; I am the facilitator, but the decisions that affect positive change can only be made by you. Realising that you are in control and can manifest and agree on positive changes yourself can be very empowering.

The more often you choose to go into hypnosis the easier it becomes to relax and get into the process, secure in the knowledge that you remain in control and can end a session of hypnosis at any point should you wish to. As most people find hypnosis deeply relaxing and a very pleasant experience, they rarely choose to do this, but they are aware that they could if they so choose.

Can I get stuck in hypnosis?

No. There is absolutely no possibility of you getting stuck in hypnosis. During hypnosis, you remain in total control and can return to full awareness at any time without any intervention from me.

What should I expect from a COACHD Integrative Counselling session?

I understand that your first counselling session might feel a little unnerving. It’s not unusual for someone to feel this way, you may be worried that the interactions will feel awkward or intimidating, which can cause feelings of anxiety. These concerns are normal and learning about what to expect during a COACHD Integrative Counselling session is one way to prepare yourself and reduce any concerns you may have.

I will help you navigate life’s challenges and provide you with specialised care in many areas. For example, if you need assistance with relationship problems, in your job, or if you have a substance abuse problem, I have the training and experience in these areas and many more. It is not necessary to have a diagnosed mental health condition to benefit from COACHD Integrative Counselling. In fact, many of my clients seek help because they are facing a difficult life challenge and want to benefit from my professional guidance and support.

Rapport is vital to a successful counselling experience. I will spend the time to get to know you and give you the reassurance that you will receive the very best treatment, emotional support, and objective feedback, always in a non-judgmental way.

During your first session, I will review your Intake Forms and ask questions about your life and background. These questions will include topics such as your occupation (past or present), your family background, academic experience, interests, challenges, psychological and physiological issues and what you most want to achieve from your counselling sessions. I will discuss your current situation and circumstances in depth, during which questions about relationships will come up. Your answers will help me understand you better and support you in the most beneficial way.

Probing questions are necessary for me to get to know you better and make my initial assessment of how best to help you. Initial conversations will focus primarily on the concerns that have led you to seek my support. If you don’t feel a notable difference or improvement after your first COACHD Integrative Counselling session, this does not indicate that you will not have a successful outcome, far from it, your transformational journey has only just begun.

I see clients daily with all types of mental health issues and challenges and work with them at a pace that matches their own comfort levels and needs. I will discuss your issues, challenges, and symptoms in detail before advising how I would like to structure future sessions. Open and honest dialogue between the two of us is vital to determining the optimal treatment and recovery strategy for you.
