What if you had outstanding mental health and an unbreakable belief in you?
I can help you get it! Category: Mental Health Conditions: Resilience, Self-Confidence, Concentration, Motivation, Focus, Stress, Anxiety, Achieving Goals, Mindfulness, Relaxation Back to What I Treat COACHD through to awesome you! Whether you're an individual athlete, part of a team, a professional, or a sports enthusiast, COACHD therapies can significantly enhance your performance through the power of your mind.
Professional athletes have long relied on visualisation techniques to set records, win tournaments, and compete at their peak. In as little as one session, COACHD Rapid Transformational Therapyâ„¢ (RTTâ„¢) and Hypnotherapy can empower your mind to unlock unprecedented sporting success.
I work closely with professionals and amateurs alike, helping them master the power of their thoughts in shaping their reality. I help them transform their thoughts to align perfectly with the performance and results they dream of achieving. I don't just focus on improving my clients' emotional health, but also aspects of their physical health. Often, emotional pain manifests physically, so I work on optimising thought patterns, which in turn positively affects physical symptoms.
COACHD Rapid Transformational Therapyâ„¢ (RTTâ„¢) and Hypnotherapy employ powerful techniques under hypnosis to help athletes visualise their muscles working optimally, improve hand-eye coordination, enhance speed and agility, improve mental and emotional regulation, increase concentration and focus, boost self-confidence and resilience, increase stamina, reduce stress and anxiety, achieve mindfulness and relaxation, and instil an unbreakable winning mindset. My integrative therapies can improve both individual and team performance across all sports, in training, and in competition, while also improving overall quality of life. They can also aid in injury reduction and expedite recovery.
For team sports, COACHD Rapid Transformational Therapyâ„¢ (RTTâ„¢) and Hypnotherapy can help align the entire team's thought processes and performance. This enhances communication, collaboration, and instils a shared winning attitude. You make your beliefs and then your beliefs make you If you consistently tell yourself that you're not good enough, or you believe winning is beyond your reach, your mind will aim to make that your reality. Struggling with sports performance or failing to achieve desired results can be the consequence of negative inner thoughts and self-dialogue that diminishes you. In this case, the performance failures are your mind and body's response to the perceptions you hold about yourself, often serving as self-protection mechanisms against the pain associated with failure.
Constant negative thinking can not only demotivate you but also give rise to a more powerful 'inner critic' that actively holds you back. Despite the mind's natural resistance to change, it has an amazing ability to learn through repetition. Feed it the same message enough times, and it will happily adjust its behaviour to support the new directive. I leverage the mind’s predictability during my Rapid Transformational Therapy™ (RTT™) and Hypnotherapy sessions when treating clients for sports performance issues.
Every thought you think, every word you say to yourself, and every mental image you create serves as a blueprint for your mind and body to make your reality. And since your mind responds to the narratives you feed it, it will actively defend those narratives and work towards making them your reality. Understanding this can help you realise that your reality isn't external; it's a construct of the mind. Once my athletes realise their mind is working for them and not to them, they are able to take control of their inner thoughts and feelings and make the changes necessary to perform beyond anything they had thought possible. Your mind doesn't care about being happy You might think that your mind's primary job is to make you happy. However, its fundamental role is survival, a characteristic perfected during our early evolution when survival was less certain. Key to this survival was our mind's response to our thoughts, specifically the things we told ourselves like, 'That would kill me,' or 'I'd die if that happened.' Upon hearing such dire predictions, our mind would trigger survival mechanisms, including mental, emotional, and physiological responses, doing everything in its power to keep us from harm and prevent death.
Fast forward to today, and our mind operates in much the same way, responding to our inner thoughts as if we were still living in harsher, more perilous times. Therefore, if we want our mental and emotional health to match our safer, more comfortable circumstances, we must learn to tell ourselves a different story.
Even professional athletes can fall into the trap of negative self-talk. In doing so, they may create problematic beliefs and damaging behaviour that results in performance issues, illness, or injury. The resultant emotional pain often manifests physically, a particularly troublesome issue for those whose careers depend on their physical performance.
Fortunately, the solution is straightforward. We simply need to train ourselves to foster more positive, supportive thoughts. In doing so, we can guide our minds towards outcomes more in line with our true potential and our goals in life. You must tell yourself a winning story Our brains are hard-wired to gravitate towards familiar experiences and avoid the unfamiliar. It's a survival mechanism, reducing risk and offering a sense of security. Consequently, trying something new often feels more challenging or riskier than sticking to what we've always done.
This tendency for the familiar can, and often does, lead to destructive habits. For instance, picture someone trapped in a toxic relationship. The familiarity of that toxicity can become a comfort zone, resulting in a continuous cycle of emotional and physical abuse, and more harmful relationships. People in this situation will create a false narrative and tell themselves that it’s just how relationships work for them. This repeating pattern can last indefinitely, because people naturally prefer what they know, even if it's detrimental to them.
So, how do we rewrite our stories? How do we make affirmations like 'I'm a winner,' 'I'm worthy,' and 'success is available to me' become our default mindset?
I get my clients to start each morning with positive affirmations, telling themselves the things they want to hear most, such as 'I'm a winner,' I possess a unique skill,' 'I have something valuable to offer the world.' Whatever words move them towards better thoughts and feelings, I get them to say it. I remind them that their mind is constantly awaiting their instructions and to feed it with words that build them up rather than tear them down. Peoples self-dialogue and the mental images (pictures) they create in their mind have physiological impacts, which over time can either empower them or hold them back. The difference is what they tell themselves.
Nothing bolsters self-esteem more than praise, particularly self-praise. Repeated self-praise conditions your mind to accept this positive narrative as truth. Conversely, habitual self-criticism also gets embedded in your psyche as truth, forming a self-deprecating blueprint for your life.
Thinking positive thoughts may sound easy, but here’s the thing, you absolutely must be consistent. If you’re going to tell yourself a better story and you want it to stick, you have got to tell yourself that story every day, under every circumstance, always and forever - the mind learns through repetition, and it is always listening.
Knowing that your wellbeing depends on the story you tell yourself, how do you cope during times of real adversity? Everyone encounters adversities and will inevitably assign meaning to those events. Negative self-blame and self-criticism can be harmful, but you have the power to reverse this. Irrespective of the circumstances, I help my clients change their story from 'I'm worthless' to 'I'm worthy' and witness the transformative effect that has on their lives. Knowing 'you are enough' changes everything When it comes to sports performance, or anything else for that matter, many of my clients have struggled with the belief they are not enough.
That feeling of not being enough is an incredibly common issue. In fact, without any consultation, I can confidently tell my clients that there are only three things that can be wrong with them. The first is, I’m not enough. The second is, I’m different so I can’t connect. And the third is, I really want something, like a successful sporting career, but it isn’t available to me. A possible fourth belief is, even if there is help available to me, I don’t deserve it.
Ultimately what this feeling of not being enough comes down to is a lack of self-belief and the fear of failure, judgement, and rejection. From birth, we are hard-wired to find connection and avoid rejection. It’s the fear of rejection that is crippling and can cause many of the issues that I treat in my clinic. This fear of failure, rejection and judgement is further polarised for professional athletes who are more likely to be in the public eye. I teach my clients that the only person who could truly reject them is themselves, and that other people can only reject them if they choose to let the feeling in. ‘I am enough’ is a phrase I ask my clients to tell themselves repeatedly, because when they know they are enough and they truly believe it, everything becomes available to them. Success is available to you! Living a life where you have phenomenal success, without self-doubt and the fear of failure or judgement may seem a long way off, or even feel impossible, but it needn’t be this way. I know that nothing in life influences you more than the beliefs that your mind links pleasure and pain to.
