You can ACHIEVE ANY GOAL when you take control of your mind and your actions.
We can help you achieve your goals. Category: Mental Health Conditions: Achieving Goals, Motivation, Procrastination, Confidence Back to What We Treat Failing to persist is persisting to fail We live in a culture that is obsessed with life hacks and quick fixes, but when it comes to the path to success, there really isn’t a magic pill. However, there is a sort of guarantee, that if you show up each day to pursue your goal, then you will get closer to it. If you don’t, you won’t.
Olympic athletes are great role models for the importance of ‘showing up’. Viewers at home see the moments of glory as they compete and win medals. The athletes, meanwhile, see the years of pain and sacrifice it took to get there. Persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement, the same is true for you.
A great example of the power of consistency is what usually happens around Christmas and the holidays. We can enter the month with a solid workout or health routine and say, “I’m just going to take four days off.” And then, suddenly, it’s mid-January and we haven’t been to the gym in three weeks.
If you allow yourself to break the habit of ‘showing up, the behaviour very often diminishes and eventually ceases to be important to you. But when you act every day, even simplified actions such as going for a brisk walk or doing some stretches, for example, you continue to move closer to your goals with ease. Once again, there is no shortcut, but there is a guarantee, show up and you’ll see results. As you move closer to your goal, your goal moves closer to you Doing one thing every day, in service of who or what you want to be is a guaranteed way of improving your self-esteem. Once you do that, everything improves, and as you begin to believe in yourself and your own capabilities more it becomes far easier to move towards the things that you want in life.
It’s not too good to be true either, because the effect of this repetitive practice multiplies across your life and, more importantly, your attitude towards your life. When you feel better about yourself you start to conduct yourself with the air of someone who is successful, which in turn makes you successful.
It doesn’t matter how big or small your daily action is, what matters is that you’re beginning to feel and act like a winner. Tell yourself a better story Many of the clients we treat for procrastination, motivation, and goal issues, will tell us “I’m not the kind of person who can stick to anything; I always give up”, but that’s simply a bad story they are telling themselves. COACHD therapies help our clients change this belief forever, along with the damaging patterns of behaviour that a belief like this creates. Action builds momentum There is a great saying that captures the power of action, it says ‘If you want something done, ask a busy man or woman.’ A person who is busy is far more likely to get things done than someone who is lazy or procrastinates. Taking action creates momentum and the mindset to do an increasing amount of work. By choosing to commit to something that is going to make you feel like a winner and move you towards your goals, you must also choose to do something every day that takes you closer to those goals, you must act. Do the things that successful people do and you will become successful too When you do the things that successful people do, you unknowingly become more and more like them. This is very true when it comes to this habit of action. Committing to tasks every day in service of your dreams of success makes you feel like a winner, and once you feel like a winner, you begin to act differently. You begin to take on the air of a successful person and believe that you are successful. This can influence how other people treat you, how you treat yourself, and what you attract into your life.
