Following a traumatic event, people can develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD/CPTSD).

Because of unresolved symptoms, many victims of trauma struggle to live the lives they deserve, and although aware of the issues, they are unsure how to move forward. Someone suffering from deep-rooted childhood trauma, or the effects of a recent traumatic event may feel lost for answers and confused by the feelings they are experiencing. Whatever the circumstances behind the trauma, it can be tough to cope with, especially without the proper support.
The good news is that it’s entirely possible to heal and recover from past trauma. Specialist trauma therapy can help accelerate the healing process, and lead to a patient's recovery, as well as giving them an understanding of the thoughts and feelings they have been experiencing, and how to move forward with their life. What is Emotional Trauma? Emotional, psychological, or mental trauma can result from terrible or stressful events, such as an automotive accident, a natural disaster, or a violent assault. Most people will find events like these incredibly difficult to cope with. Immediately following a traumatic event, a victim can suffer from shock or disbelief, and as a way of coping, may even refuse to accept it happened. Over time it is common for people affected by a traumatic event to notice other symptoms emerging, such as flashbacks, unpredictable and extreme emotions and emotional outpouring, relationship issues, headaches, nausea, sensitivities to light and sound, withdrawal, harmful thoughts, and other symptoms.
For the victim, the effects of a traumatic event can develop into simple or complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD). Traumatic events that are experienced just once will often lead to simple PTSD, however chronic or persistent traumatic events, such as suffering years of abuse, can result in Complex PTSD, which is a more serious anxiety disorder requiring more complex treatment. Learning to cope and move on with life after suffering from trauma comes with its own unique challenges, not just based on the individual but also based on the event itself. For example, if the event involved a factory accident, going back to work in the same environment may present serious emotional challenges or psychological reactions.
Working with a professional like ourselves can help trauma victims let go of painful memories and negative emotions, and focus on building their future. The correct support will also help them maintain a healthy mind and body and foster caring relationships, which could otherwise suffer. Trauma therapy and how it works Trauma therapy works with patients to understand how traumatic experiences and events have impacted their mental, emotional, behavioural, and physical well-being. The goal of a COACHD trauma therapist is to help patients find the solutions, strategies, and skills necessary to cope with their trauma and gain the understanding necessary to process their traumatic experiences. At COACHD we use a combination of therapies to treat our trauma patients, including Rapid Transformational Therapy™(RTT™) and Hypnotherapy to help reframe the beliefs, thoughts and feelings that have emerged as a result of their traumatic experiences, and attach healthy, constructive meaning to the emotional, psychological and physical pain they have suffered, so that they can move forward in life.
We also offer a service called COACHD Combined to our trauma patients. COACHD Combined isn't a singular approach or treatment, it is a flexible therapy and skills delivery that supports the client's new and emerging circumstances over a prolonged period. COACHD Combined draws from the many powerful attributes of RTT™, Hypnotherapy, Coaching, Counselling and Mentoring services, to support the entire lifecycle of the client's recovery and development, irrespective of the time, skills, tools, and techniques that their treatment requires. COACHD Combined clients receive one-to-one support from one of our most senior members, highly trained and experienced in all aspects of COACHD services.
We don’t recommend attempting to heal your trauma on your own as you are unlikely to have the tools and knowledge to support your recovery in the appropriate way. For example, you could find yourself deeply reliving the memory of a traumatic event, which could traumatise you further. In a situation like this, a trained therapist will be able to guide you away from the memory and help you create a safe space to regain your calmness and a sense of safety.
A key objective when working with a professional trauma therapist is to access your memories in a safe and constructive way. A professional trauma therapist understands the inner workings of the mind and the part it is playing in creating your symptoms. They can help you unravel the mental and emotional blocks you are experiencing and the deeply rooted trauma within your subconscious mind. We know that the only thing our trauma patients can truly control is their thoughts. We remind them that it is their thoughts that control their feelings and their feelings that control their actions, and their actions that control their events or outside experiences. We help them see that when they change their thinking, they can change everything. Help is available to you! COACHD Rapid Transformational Therapy™(RTT™) and Hypnotherapy are highly effective forms of treatment for both adults and children suffering from trauma. It is especially important to work with a professional like us if your child is showing symptoms of trauma. Catching this early on will help to ensure they can grow into a healthy, happy, well-adjusted adult.
We help our clients understand that their thoughts become reality, so they can actively work towards changing that reality into something positive, uplifting, and healthy. We not only help our clients improve their emotional health but many aspects of their physical health too. Emotional pain is often expressed through the body, so we work on improving our client's patterns of thought so that their physical self is affected positively as a result.
If you’ve been routinely convincing yourself that you are a victim, lacking in confidence and self-worth, your mind will do everything it can to make that your reality. Depression, loneliness and emotional detachment are good examples of this, they are your mind and body's response to the beliefs you hold about yourself and a way of protecting you.
Repeated negative thoughts will demotivate you and give rise to an even more powerful ‘inner critic’. It will keep you exactly where you tell it you want to be. Although the mind resists change, it is quite brilliant at learning through repetition – tell it something enough times and in the right way and it happily recodes itself to the new instruction. That’s an aspect of the mind that COACHD takes full advantage of with our Rapid Transformational Therapy™(RTT™) and Hypnotherapy when treating clients for trauma.
Every thought you think, every word you say to yourself and every picture you create in your mind, form a blueprint that your mind and body work to make your reality. And since your mind responds to the thoughts and words you tell it, then, by definition, it will protect them and make them your reality. Knowing this, our trauma patients can see that their reality isn’t something external to them, it is whatever reality they create in their minds. About Rapid Transformational Therapy™(RTT™) and Hypnotherapy Suppressed emotions and feelings can make understanding your condition difficult, especially when it’s been going on for years. It can also be challenging to go through the recovery process without the correct support since even a minor relapse can set you back and make things worse. However, seeking help from a mental health professional like COACHD can massively accelerate the healing process, which could otherwise take decades or may never happen.
Whilst we can’t change your past, we can help you change the narrative of your mind (your story). We can help you experience a new world that is not limited by the restrictive vision of your anxiety. Past trauma does not have to control your life.
